It’s been a tough couple of months for Tim Kennedy, as following his dominant, decision win over Roger Gracie at UFC 162, the middleweight’s had two high profile fights fall through. First, the UFC tried to book a fight between Kennedy and Vitor Belfort, but the latter passed on the bout and eventually signed to fight Dan Henderson. Then, Kennedy was tapped to fight Lyoto Machida in the the headliner for the November 6th, “Fight for the Troops” card. The former light-heavyweight champ has been moved to UFC FN 30, however, as a replacement for Michael Bisping.
So, as the UFC continues to look for a replacement for Machida, Kennedy is lending a hand by calling out several high profile fighters via Twitter. Here are some of the tweets Kennedy’s sent out, and if you’re familiar with the veteran’s personality, you know there’s going to be some doozies.
Mr. @wandfc Don’t fight Chael Sonnen. He has better wrestling than me, and a better chin. I am a way easier fight. You vs Me Nov 6th @ufc
News flash!!! @nickdiaz209 I stole your pot, and bicycle. If you want them back you have to come out of retirement and fight me @ufc Nov 6th
Hey @Philippou185UFC want to get back in there asap? I promise not to wrestle if you promise not to punch me?!?!
Hey @RichFranklin aka “American Fighter” I want your nickname. It’s cool & clever. I’ll fight you for it! Tim (aka future American Fighter)
I wanted to point out to Mr. @thalesleites that my last 3 opponents were from Brazil & they “fell through”perhaps you would actually show up
All joking aside, any of those match-ups would provide a solid headliner for UFC FN 31. Here’s hoping the UFC finds a suitable replacement soon.
