Junie Browning’s Brother Robert on The Ultimate Fighter 9
Controversial Ultimate Fighter 8 cast member Junie Browning’s brother, Rober Browning, has been cast for the upcoming ninth season of the UFC reality series, according to MMAJunkie.com:
A source close to the fighter has told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) that Robert Browning (1-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC), the younger brother of controversial season-eight cast member Junie Browning, was one of 16 American fighters chosen to compete in the season-opening elimination round.
Our source told MMAjunkie.com that Robert Browning, like his big brother, also creates some drama before he even steps into the cage.
Browning, who, according to MMA.tv, has compiled a 4-2 record as an amateur and a 1-0 mark as a professional, last fought in August, losing via third-round submission to Mike Baskis at a Southern Kentucky Combat League event.
Videos of several of Robert Browning’s recent bouts are embedded below:

I hope he’s not as much of a head case as his brother is.
ya you said it timcat… Nail on the head.
This is totally ridiculous. It just shows that they are instigating and promoting this shi**y behavior by fighters on the show. I understand they need some drama to keep the show interesting and to have some story lines to keep ratings high but come on. Last season I all but prayed every week that junies tv time would be minimal and we wouldnt have to listen to his temper trantrams. I really hope that unlike his brother, Robert Browning has enough respect for himself, his competitors, and the sport of mma to not act like an ahole and ruin the show.
Why is it ridiculous that the UFC is taking an apparently talented fighter to TRY to make it into the house? There’s no guarantee he makes it in, and the “drama” created may be as simple as someone getting in his face and calling his brother a douche.
Further, as Chris L points out below, Junie is talented. And I think he’s going to get a lot better. Maybe not holding a belt talented, but definitely able to disrupt some title shot runs talented.
As a person, I don’t like Junie much, but as a fighter I do…but that is partially because I am waiting for him to back up his statement before the opening fights of his season. “I’m different than all these other guys because I’m here to fight. The rest of them showed up for the free Tapout shirt.”
In my opinion he never showed any where near the talent that he so often spoke of having. He gassed out in every fight which shows piss poor preparation and it also never gave anybody a good enough look to assess his skills. If he had never talked about being so much better than everybody else on the show then the results of his fights wouldnt have been so disappointing. I was sure hoping that with all the **** he talked, he would back it up but he never did. Only time will tell if he is making such big improvements that everybody at xtreme couture is saying he is. But I think cry baby’s that wine and want to fight over every little comment or argument have no place on the TUF and I think its about time dana stops giving theses drama queens a shot. Every season he talks to the cast and condemns this behavior but he still has fighters that will clearly behave in a similar manner.
Try to remember Junie is pretty talented and you still have to make it through a few rounds of tryouts and then you have to fight your way into the house so don’t flip out yet.
Junie’s talent has really yet to be seen. He looked great in his debut fight but it was against another tuffer who hasn’t proven himself either. Let me see Junie against Spencer Fisher, or Hermes Franca, not the top 10 in the UFC but a gate keeper and then I’ll cal Junie talented. He looked HORRIBLE against that BJJ kid in his first fight after getting in the house. That kid had zero stand up and Junie couldn’t even box with him.
Junie also hadn’t been training seriously w/ Couture going into the show so throw TUF fights out the window. Not to mention talented doesn’t mean the same thing as skilled or proven which is what you are talking about. Matt Arroyo, Mac Danzig,Philipe Nover and pre-serious BJ Penn (were for BJ)are talented but until you do anything w/ the talent it’s just potential that may or may not be tapped.
Talented and skilled are interchangeable, and in any case we haven’t seen his talent or his tested abilities, and training with Randy’s gym isn’t exactly the golden chalice for a fighter (albeit it is a good camp to be a part of). We can’t claim that Junie is talented when we haven’t seem him display talent against anyone of reasonable skill level. You can argue that Melvin Guillard is talented, but not consistent and therefore not a top tier fighter, but that is after his talents have been on display. Junie looked like crap in his first fight in the house, lost his second fight and then won a convincing fight in his UFC Debut, but that resume doesn’t exactly spell out a talented fighter.
Junie’s upcoming fight with Cole Miller will show a lot in regards to where he is as a fighter.
ya rob wont be that cocky i think he hasn’t won as many matches as junie did
Did you watch the first fight video? The guy looks pretty cocky to me.
Did you see Gurgel reffing the second?
The browning family should stick to circus show fights . I dont follow junie and rob will get the same ammount of attention from me . If we dont talk about them then they tend to have no value as draws and off they will go .
I watched the video days ago, and quite frankly he is as bad, or perhaps even worse in regards to being super cocky for no apparent reason… They have done nothing in the sport, tho it does seem as tho Randy Couture has straightend out Junie for now but his brother is already annoying me a great deal… On youtube (no link) there is a interview with the both of them that is just absolutly retarded, I will be rooting against lil coky for now… Perhaps someone can ko him or choke him I dunno
wow i watched just the beginning of that first vid what a dick head
are you kidding what a loser
lets just see if he even makes it in the house….or gets and and should be kicked out 3 times but stays. I wonder if Dana met Miss Browning on a cold Kentucky night at some point.
I’ve seen better street fights!
well from what it looks like rob doesnt usually fight at 155 so i look for him to not even get in the house hopefully and if he does hopefully dana doesnt give him a million chances like his brother….either way hell most likely end up at xtreme couture with his brother
hes very cocky. And disrespectful in my oppinion.
a 1-0 record is nothing to be cocky about. He wont make it on the show. and if he does, he will be put down quick.
we got ourselves a showboater. wats up wit him landing a jab then suddenly goin to the cage and dancing if such moves can b called dancing. ive said this constantly it doesnt matter to me atleast wat u do outside the cage as long as u put on a good fight in the cage. well this guys actin like a shmuck in the cage so hes already in a deep hole wit me.
There isn’t a single fighter affiliated with the UFC that isn’t a showboater in some fashion. He may be taking to an extreme, but he is young and likely lacks some self control. That’s something only experience can teach you.
i understand wat u meanin my eyes theres a diff between showboatin and havin a swagger wat he does is showboatin. turnin ur back on someone in the cage is showboatin and disrespectful. the only good thing is that i think this video was from when his big bro junie was still a few walls short of a house if u get my meaning so mayb wit junie calmin down his lil bro will too
He landed a cheap shot in the first vid.
That was horrible.
And seriously, why him?
Isnt it gonna be UK vs the US? Is that what we had to throw in? dammit.
