UFC Fight Night 28 main event winner Glover Teixeira may not have beenthrilled about his performance, but UFC officials apparently were. Teixeira will face off the winner of UFC 165’s main event battle between light heavyweight champion Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafsson.
UFC Director of International Development Marshall Zelaznik cited a conversation with UFC president Dana White at the UFC Fight Night 28 Post-Fight Press Conference.
Teixeira was unhappy with his performance tonight but insisted that will not stand between him and the belt, “I was disappointed he was able to knock me down. But I’m telling you, this belt is going to be mine. It doesn’t matter if it’s Jon Jones or Gustafsson. It’s mine.”
UFC 165 will take place Septemeber 21 and will mark the fourth time the UFC has traveled to Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The card is set to be headlined by a UFC light heavyweight title fight featuring champion Jon Jones taking on Alexander Gustafsson. An interim bantamweight title fight between champion Renan Barão and Eddie Wineland will co-headline the bout.
