Benavidez Crushes Formiga

Joe Benavidez wanted to get a win over a Brazilian tonight in Belo Horizonte and he did just that when he faced Jussier Formiga. After a relatively close early first round, Benavidez would seize control after the midpoint by connecting on a wicked counter strike that stunned Formiga. “Joe B” would follow up with a big knee and strikes that forced a stop the fight.

Benavidez has now won three straight since losing his title fight with flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson and finds himself knocking at the door of a second shot at “Mighty Mouse.”
