Cheick Kongo vs. Antoni Hardonk Slated For UFC 97

Cheick Kongo will look to continue his climb up the heavyweight ladder when he takes on Antoni Hardonk at UFC 97: Redemption on April 18th in Montreal, Canada.
Fighters Only first reported the matchup on Thursday.
Since joining the UFC in mid-2006 Kongo has compiled a 6-2 record in the octagon, emerging as a heavyweight contender with back-to-back victories over Assuerio Silva and Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic. Kongo rebounded from a March loss to Heath Herring with first-round knockouts of Dan Evensen and Mustapha Al-Turk.
After beginning his UFC career with just a 1-2 mark that included losses to Justin McCully and Frank Mir, Hardonk has since won three-straight fights over Colin Robinson, Eddie Sanchez, and Mike Wessel.

Excellent match-up, this will be a great fight. Gotta go with Kongo by TKO 2nd round.
I personally expect Kongo by TKO round one. Hardonk is a decent fighter, but I think Kongo will be too much for him.
i think this match-up reeks. Kongo needs a step up in competition, and i dont’t feel this is it. Hardonk is another soup can. what will beating him prove?
HW division is pretty weak now a days. Who else would you suggest Kongo fight? Sahne Carwin (10-0) is fighting at UFC 96 against Gonzaga. Maybe Pat Barry cause he is 4-0, but Kongo would destroy him. Velasquez would be a sick fight, but he is fighting this Saturday. Dos Santos would be awesome fight too, but he is fighting at UFC 95. So Kongo can only fight who is available.

I think this is gonna be a great fight. I cant wait! Two extremely good strikers and now Kongo has a very improved wrestling game and Hardonk with what appears to be better submissions in his last fight. Should be a great war.
