A major hurdle has been cleared for FOX Sports 1’s Saturday debut as the cable network has resolved their major carriage issues prior to UFC Fight Night 26. The LA Times reports that FOX Sports has secured deals with Time Warner Cable, Dish Network, and Direct TV.
The deals enable the network to reach their goal of being in 90 million homes at launch. Time Warner, Dish, and Direct TV reach over 40 million homes across the country. FOX Sports is gambling big that the network will eventually challenge Disney-owned ESPN.
UFC Fight Night 26 will help launch the network this Saturday in Boston, Massachusetts. Light heavyweights Chael Sonnen and Maurício “Shogun” Rua will face off in the UFC Fight Card 26 main event. The card will also feature a bout between former Strikeforce champion Alistair Overeem and Travis Browne.
