Silva Doesn’t Fear Weidman Despite “Nightmare” Loss

Kelsey Mowatt

Anderson Silva

We’re still several months out from Weidman-Silva II but already the hype regarding the UFC 168 bout is starting to build. Considering the fight involves one of the sport’s fastest rising stars in Weidman against the consensus greatest of all time, it’s not really a surprise.

Of course, another reason the fight is so intriguing, is because of the way the first one went down. For Weidman boosters, the bout demonstrated he is the planet’s best middleweight, while Silva fans believe the legend lost due to his taunting. For others it’s a little of both.

In a recent interview with the Brazilian radio program “Panico”, Silva offered this interesting take on the July 6th bout and the upcoming rematch (quote via MMA Fighting):

“I had a nightmare with Weidman, but I don’t fear him,” Anderson said. “He is determined, but has two arms and two legs just like me. Now I’ll bring Chuck Norris (to my camp). I’ll bring both, Chuck Norris and Steven Seagal.”

How about that huh? Not only is “The Spider” going to sharpen up the tool set with some guidance from Seagal, but possibly Chuck Norris as well. Silva never ceases to shock and amaze right?

Silva also relayed to Panico that he’s still interested in fighting Georges St. Pierre at some point, and in another interview with, he said he still wants to fight Jon Jones. While Dana White has said in the past those bouts won’t take place if Silva loses, one would think Jones-Silva is still possible down the line, if “The Spider” defeats Weidman in impressive fashion. It would still be a pretty massive bout.

December 28th is going to be crazy.
