MMAFrenzy’s coverage of tonight’s UFC action continues with our UFC 163 play-by-play. Be sure to stay tuned as we bring you full blow-by-blow coverage of tonight’s main card headlined by a UFC featherweight title fight between champion José Aldo and “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung. UFC 163 Play-by-Play

John Lineker vs. José Maria Tome

Rd. 1- Touch of gloves and we’re off. Maria is not settling in front of Lineker early and is wise to do so. Lineker is making Maria wobble every time he connects. Big shot by Lineker and he briefly goes for the finish but Maria escapes. Lineker rebuffs yet another takedown attempt. Uh oh Maria rocks Lineker with a spinning backfist and he’s trying to capitalize. Maria rocks him again but Lineker avoids being finished. Takedown by Maria but Lineker stands and counters. Maria connects with another shot to the groin but it doesn’t appear to be the last strike that landed. Spinning backkick by Maria misses and Lineker just misses some kill shots as he stands. Lineker connects on a shot as Maria shoots in and lands some big shots as the round ends. MMAFrenzy still has it 10-9 Tome.

Rd. 2- Lineker pressures to start the round. Maria clinches and Lineker lands a big knee on the exit. Maria again misses consecutive takedowns. Maria slips on a kick and it looks like he’s injured his right knee. Lineker follows up and it is all over.

Thales Leites vs. Tom Watson

Rd. 1- Herb Dean is our referee tonight. Leites gets off first with a slick combo that staggers Watson. Watson uses it gain a takedown and back control. Watson is in danger here as Leites is looking for the submission (armbar or RNC). Leites traps Watson’s arm and begins landing some ground-and-pound. Watson has his arm free now and is fighting hands but Leites is all over him. Watson bellies down but Leites follows and looks to flatten him out. Watson escapes however and lands a knee on the exit with a minute left. Headkick by Watson and he lands another right as the round ends. MMAFrenzy has it 10-9 Leites.

Rd. 2- Combo by Leites to start the action. Another nice combo by Leites backs up the Brit. Watson goes for the Thai clinch and Leites uses it to net a takedown and moves to side control. Leites looks for an arm-triangle but Watson escapes it. Leites has Watson’s back again after Watson tried to escape. Leites is digging for the RNC again but instead goes for the armbar. Leites has the leg over now and he extends the arm as Watson stands against the cage. Watson uses the cage to escape like a pro. Legkick by Watson. Flurry by Watson but few strikes get through. Watson has some control in the clinch but Leites lands a knee. Leites is fading and Watson lands. Big uppercut by Leites. Leites is close to a takedown as the horn blows. MMAFrenzy has it 20-18 but Leites is starting to fade.

Rd. 3- Nice left by Leites has opened Watson up above the eye. Leites is looking to control the fight against the cage. Fighters are exchanging along the cage. Leites looks for a modified broomstick takedown but it’s not there. Watson lands some shots but Leites counters with a nice double. Leites passes to the mount with ease. Strikes by Leites as Watson gives up his back to escape. Leites drags Watson back down with 90-seconds left. Arm-triangle attack by Leites from the mount but Watson is fighting it with all he has. Leites is walking to the head to get it tighter with 0:15 left. Watson holds on but was dominated on the ground. MMAFrenzy has it 30-27 Leites.

Cezar “Mutante” Ferreira vs. Thiago “Marreta” Santos

Rd. 1- Ferreira is setting up headkick early and tags Santos with a punch. Headkick attempt is missed but he attacks and sinks in a deep guillotine finish and Santos is forced to tap quickly.

Phil Davis vs. Lyoto Machida

Rd. 1- Leon Roberts is our referee and the crowd is rocking. Machida takes the center but Davis starts the action with a body kick. Davis moving well early. body kick is checked by both fighters. Nice right by Machida but Davis avoid more damage. Davis is using his reach advantage well so far. Machida tags him with a combo. Headkick by Machida lands and momentarily stuns Davis. Legkick by Davis is answered by machida. Body kick by Davis is rebuked with a nasty straight left. Nice body kick by Machida. Macida explodes with a wicked combo and just misses a flying knee on the end. Davis survives but is now highly motivated to land a takedown and he does. Davis is working half guard and he digs a kimura. Elbows to the body and head of Machida as the round ends. Great first. MMAFrenzy has it 19-9 Machida in a close one.

Rd. 2- Both fighters are active to start the round. A lot of movement by Davis early but Machida doesn’t allow much movement. Headkick by Machida glances off the top of Davis’ head. Davis fires one of his own but it is blocked. Legkick by Davis. Davis with a fake shot to a headkick but it is blocked. Superman punch by Davis lands late. Davis looks for the takedown but Machida defends and beautifully avoids the clinch after. Davis with wild combos that aren’t landing here with 2:00 left. Right hand by Davis lands. Soccer kick by Machida to the chin. Davis has two shots stuffed but lands a nice uppercut while exiting the first. Davis is not changing levels well on the takedowns. Straight left by Machida.  Nasty right by machida is answered by a takedown from Davis. Knees and elbows by Davis to end the round. Very close round but the late action by Davis takes it. MMAFrenzy has it 10-9 Davis (19-19)

Rd. 3- Double superman punches by Davis miss. Davis is pushing the pace early with strikes. Bodykick by Machida. Left by Machida helps stuff a Davis shot. Huge knee by Machida catches Davis shooting and it allows Machida to take his back. Body kick by Machida on the exit as Davis escapes. Big left by Machida connects on Davis. Another knee by Machida rebuffs a Davis takedown. Nice straight right by Machida stops a Davis combo before it starts. Davis goes to tie and Machida with a big knee. Davis tries another take down and Machida evades beautifully. Knee by Davis as Machida again stuffs a takedown. MMAFrenzy has the round, and the fight, for Machida (29-28). Absolutely horrendous decision turned in by the judges leaves the crowd and Machida’s corner furious.

UFC Featherweight Title Fight: José Aldo (c) vs. Chan Sung Jung

Rd. 1-Herb Dean is our referee and a touch of gloves starts us off. Jung swarms but nothing comes close. Aldo is measuring up Jung so far and just letting him throw as he paws a jab. Overhand right by Aldo punctuated a nice combo. Nice jab starting to land for Aldo. Combo is landed by Aldo and the Brazilian follows up with a left jab. Jung whiffs on more strikes and a big leg kick by Aldo lands glancingly. Aldo is surgical so far and lands a legkick on Jung. Legkick by Jung but it isn’t anything like Aldo, but what is? Jung feints a takedown and lands a nice right hook. Takedown attempt by Aldo and he lands some shots as Jung scrambles up. Spinning wheel kick to a flying knee by Aldo. Neither connected to the chin but to the body. Jung tries an attack as the horn sounds as well. MMAFrenzy has it 10-9 Aldo.

Rd. 2- Jung is pushing the pace more now in his Zombie stance. Aldo connects on two wicked shots as Jung tries to swarm. Nasty combo by Aldo as Jung advances again. Body combo by Aldo punctuated by right hook. Impressive. Aldo goes back to the jab and it is landing. Aldo’s hands are sharp and it is adding up. Jung looks a step behind so far. Nasty stepping jab staggers Jung briefly. Overhand right by Jung lands but Aldo with a duckunder. Big driving takedown by Aldo and he is in side control. Jung recovers guard as Aldo tries to posture up. Body shot by Aldo as the the round ends. MMAFrenzy has it 10-9 Aldo (20-18).

Rd. 3- Jung tries a flying knee but gets caught and slammed by Aldo. Aldo controlling him along the fence by lacing the leg. Jung tries to land some punches along the cage and finally stands. Aldo has really surprised Jung so far tonight with more grappling and fewer legkicks. Zombie is refusing to stand as he sees Aldo loading up a knee. Jung comes in wild again and connects but Aldo again takes control along the cage. Jung tries a ninja choke but it is not under the chin and Aldo works up. Elbows to the back of the head by Jung but Dean stands them as the action stalls again. Jung tries another flying knee and Jung is again thrown down but he scrambles back up and has Aldo down but he eats some upkicks. MMAFrenzy has 30-27 Aldo.

Rd. 4- Jung is starting to pressure like he should have to start the fourth. Aldo is still connecting more though. Aldo evades another combo by Jung. Jung’s shoulder separated in a striking exchange when Aldo blocked an overhand right. He’s trying to pop it back in but Aldo pounces and annihilates him. He is in a ton of pain as Herb Dean steps in.
