I can't say that I am any more surprised by some of the big salaries here than I have been at some of the smaller numbers paid to some of the fighters in other events.
Wouldn't dream of knocking any fighter for getting as much as they can when they can either. Regardless, fighting is a tough way to make a living.

There are a few things you guys arent factoring in...In addition to live gate, and PPV buys, Affliction makes money off of the fighters with their clothing.

I'm not a UFC fan, or Affliction fan, Im an MMA fan...so I hope both stick around. Dana is a hypocrit with the "freakshow" crap...Brock loses his first fight, then wins a decisions over Heath Hearring and gets a title shot? Brock isnt a freakshow with no record? He beat a guy that hasnt fought for a year and is a champion? Weak. If UFC has a monopoly, we'll keep getting PPV cards filled with TUF fighters and has-beens with 1, maybe 2 good fights. If UFC has a lil competition, they are forced to step it up in terms of paying the people WHO ACTUALLY FIGHT, and putting on better shows than the other guys.

I could care less what the fighters make as long as the co. theyre working for can pay it. Yea, Arlovski got paid $1.5mil for getting KO'd, but how much do Dana and the Fertitas make every PPV? Why is nobody upset about that, but instead whine about how much fighters are getting paid to fight?

You should really focus on reading before you comment.
Q: "Why does Fedor make less than his challenger?"
A: "See above comments where basically the same question was asked...three times."

this is why dana white has been predicting that affliction won't be around much longer. i like arlovski but 1.5 mil for getting knocked out? that's what they used to pay people to fight mike tyson. that's crazy!!! donald trump and oscar de la hoya will get sick of carrying this company and there will be some good fighters out of work, again, just like elitexc.

BS?????

When a boxer makes 50 million on one fight, you are saying BS to a MMA fighter who finally gets a fair shake? Wow dude. Good for Arlovski and his management team for negotiating a descent paycheck.

That's way too much for Arlovski et al. Why does Fedor always make less than his challenger? Is if to get Baby Fedor and his little brother on the cards? But what would be a fair price for the main eventers? 250k plus 250 win bonus? I think there should be more emphasis on the win bonus.

Let's keep in mind here folks that Affliction has a partner with the name "Trump". I doubt very much that Trump will stick around very long if they aren't making money. The old saying "you have to spend money to make money" is playing a big part in this case I think. They (Affliction) realize that they can't compete with the UFC at this point in time so if they can convince the top tier fighters to move to their organization with guaranteed higher payouts, they will be more competitive and eventually will have a larger number of the top fighters which means they will have a better organization which means more viewers which means more money. Keep going the competition between the two organizations can only be good for us as viewers. Eventually Affliction will either be the opposition or they will fold. Guess all we can do is wait and see what happens. That's just my opinion.

"The live gate numbers are in and it looks it just enough to cover Andrei Arlovski’s purse—$1,512,750 to be exact. Of the 13,228 people that attended “Day of Reckoning,” 8,946 of them actually paid to be there. For those wondering how that compares to “Banned,” Affliction made approximately $500,000 less with 2,296 less paying customers this time around. If you look on the bright side, I suppose you can at least say it wasn’t the disaster it appeared it was going to be just days before the event."

Yep, only a matter of time before they follow ProElite... nice seeing you fight in the US Fedor, will be looking for you in Dream...

I'm going to have to agree with Justin on this one

It might be my youth but i cant remember a dominant boxing promotion. Also, i think Dana is hell bent on not turning MMA promotion into how crappy and corrupt boxing promotion has become thanks to guys like don king. I used to be a Dana hater but i now think Dana's bald head has masterminded all of his moves pretty well right now and i think the sport of MMA will be as popular as the NFL in world wide popularity in ten years, unfortanetly not in the USA imo since it gets a bad rep since its too "violent" for some people tastes. Affliction in the long run will have helped the UFC since it has made the UFC put on many more fights then anyone ever expected a half a year ago, or whenever affliction started up a while ago. Theres always going to smaller promotions just like there are in the NFL(CFL, Euro NFL, AFL), MLB(Jesus even Bismarck North Dakota had there own semi-pro baseball team for a while, go Rattlers!)NHL and the dozens upon dozens of hockey leagues that are all over North America. The UFC will eventually will be the big leagues, it will just take time.
