The UFC on FOX 8 FX preliminary card kicked off with a fun trio of fights on the docket. In the third fight of the FX card, Daron Cruickshank defeated Yves Edwards with a technical display of MMA. In other action, Ed Herman and Germaine de Randamie picked up victories on the FX card.
Cruickshank Slips Past Edwards
Daron Cruickshank and Yves Edwards engaged in a nip-and-tuck affair tonight in Seattle. Neither fighter ever really secured a pronounced advantage during the bout that saw Edwards advancing but Cruickshank landing with cleaner shots. Edwards frustration at having to chase his opponent showed up during the fight, as it only allowed “The Detroit Superstar” to land more as the bout ended. In the end, Cruickshank did enough to gain two of the judges’ favor and earn the short notice victory.
Herman and Smith Combine for “FOTN” Front-Runner
Ed Herman and Trevor Smith fought tonight like their lives were in the balance. The back-and-forth war saw both men connect with brutal shots that rocked each man at times. In the end, Herman would see his hand raised for the first time since last February.
De Randamie Edges Kedzie
Germaine de Randamie and Julie Kedzie got the FX preliminary card started in style tonight in Seattle. De Randamie’s reach and activity was the story of this fight, as she used it neutralize the power game of Kedzie in the stand-up and to gain leverage in the grappling department. The victory improved the former Muay Thai champion to 4-2 in MMA.
