The big men continue to take over Houston as heavyweights Shawn Jordan and Gabriel Gonzaga have agreed to meet at UFC 166. No word on where the bout will land on the night’s fight card. UFC officials confirmed the verbally agreed bout to Baton Rouge, Lousiana’s The Advocate.
The bout will see the former LSU fullback and Texas native take on one of the best opponents to date. Jordan improved to 3-1 in the Octagon with a nasty knockout of Pat Barry at UFC 161.
His opponent, Gonzaga, comes into the bout with an impressive knockout of his own. “Napão” demolished Dave Herman at UFC 162 to improve to 3-1 in his current stint with organization. The former title challenger will look to continue his run when he takes on Jordan on his opponent’s home turf.
UFC 166 is headlined by the third fight between UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez and Junior dos Santos. A bout between Daniel Cormier and Roy Nelson will co-headline the billing. The fight card will take place October 19 at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. More bouts are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
