An intriguing lightweight battle has been set up for UFC 165 as Khabib Nurmagomedov takes on Pat Healy in Toronto. The bout will likely land on the evening’s pay-per-view main card. UFC officials announced the pairing on Sunday.
The bout will see the talented and undefeated (20-0) Dagestani put his streak on the line against his toughest test to date. Nurmagomedov picked up victory number twenty, also setting a record with 21 takedowns, by dominating Abel Trujillo at UFC 160.
Healy would get the biggest victory and loss of his career by defeating Jim Miller in a thrilling fight at UFC 159. While Healy would win the battle, originally picking up $100,000 in bonuses, the bout’s result would be overturned after “Bam Bam” tested positive for marijuana. The bout with Nurmagomedov will be his first following his suspension and undisclosed fine.
UFC 165 will take place Septemeber 21 and will mark the fourth time the UFC has traveled to Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The card is set to be headlined by a UFC light heavyweight title fight featuring champion Jon Jones taking on Alexander Gustafsson. An interim bantamweight title fight between champion Renan Barão and Eddie Wineland will co-headline the bout.
