Now that Nick Diaz fans have their hopes raised that he could be headed back to the Octagon soon, it’s being reported that the veteran hasn’t in fact been offered a bout by the UFC as reported.
The MMA industry has been buzzing since Diaz’s manager Cesar Gracie, reportedly told BJ Penn.com Radio that the renowned welterweight has received a “neat” bout offer from the UFC. Of course, the news was a big deal, since it wasn’t long ago that Diaz said he might walk away from fighting altogether.
Gracie has recently tweeted that he was misquoted by the radio program:
Misquoted on @bjpenndotcom. No new contract or new bout agreement.

In a follow up report from MMA Fighting.com’s Ariel Helwani, however, this text message from UFC President Dana White states:”Nobody at the UFC talked to Gracie or anyone else that reps Nick.”
The story also says that Gracie was asked about who the reported opponent could be on Wednesday, but texted: “Can’t tell you.”
So who knows what’s going on here. What we do know is that White recently acknowledged that he’s been in contact with Diaz about fighting again, at the request of the former Strikeforce champ.
Diaz (26-9) hasn’t fought since UFC 158 in March, when he lost by unanimous decision to Georges St. Pierre. After the fight, which followed a UD loss to Carlos Condit, the 29 year-old said he was likely done fighting unless he could meet GSP again or fight Anderson Silva.
