Now that Bobby Voelker has been moved into a fight with Robbie Lawler at UFC on FOX 8, Jason High has been tapped to fight James Head on August 28th, who Voelker was originally scheduled to battle. The bout will be part of the second UFC on FOX Sports 1 card, which will be hosted by Indianapolis’ Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
The fight, which is the 13th to be confirmed for the card, was reported first by FOX Sports.com. Voelker was booked to fight Lawler, after Siyar Bahadurzada was forced to pull out of the July 27th, UFC on FOX 8 card due to injury.
High (16-4) will be looking to get back on track, as the Strikeforce vet is coming off a submission loss to Erick Silva at a UFC on FUEL TV event in June, which ended his seven fight winning streak. During the run, High scored wins over UFC vets Quinn Mulhern, Jordan Mein and accomplished vet Hayato Sakurai.
Head (9-3) is also coming off a loss, as the former middleweight was stopped by Mike Pyle at the TUF 16 Finale in December, after recording wins over Papy Abedi and Brian Ebersole. Head has gone 2-2 so far in the UFC.
UFC on FS1 2 will be headlined by a welterweight bout between contenders Martin Kampmann and Carlos Condit, and will also feature a pivotal lightweight tilt between Donald Cerrone and Rafael dos Anjos.
