Not long after reports have surfaced relaying that Matt Mitrione has been forced to withdraw from UFC on FOX 8, the promotion is reporting that both Bobby Green and Siyar Bahadurzada have pulled out from the July 27th card as well.
According to a tweet from the UFC on FOX account, Green will no longer fight Danny Castillo due to injury, and Tim Means has stepped into fight the Team Alpha Male fighter. No details regarding Green’s injury were included.
Means (18-4-1) is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Jorge Masvidal at UFC on FOX 7 in April, after taking out Justin Salas in the first round at UFC on FX 3 last June. Castillo (15-5), meanwhile, scored a UD win over Paul Sass in his last outing at UFC on FUEL TV 7 in February, after getting knocked out by Michael Johnson at UFC on FX 5 in October.
Welterweight Siyar Bahadurzada has also been forced to pull out from the event, and Bobby Voelker has been named as his replacement versus Robbie Lawler. The nature of Bahadurzada’s injury was not disclosed. Voelker was originally set to fight James Head at UFC 164 on August 31st. As far as Lawler, he was initially scheduled to fight Tarec Saffiedine at UFC on FOX 8, until the former Strikeforce champ also had to pull out.
Voelker (24-9) will be looking to rebound from a tightly contested, unanimous decision he incurred versus Patrick Cote at UFC 158 in March. Lawler (20-9) is coming off a successful Octagon return, as the powerful fighter stopped Josh Koscheck at UFC 157 in February.
The upcoming, July 27th event will be hosted by Seattle’s Key Arena. Stay tuned to MMA Frenzy.com for all your UFC on FOX 8 news in the coming weeks.
