Anderson Silva recently negotiated a new ten fight deal, and by the looks of it, the legendary fighter’s base pay with the new contract is significantly more. Just hours before the middleweight champion will battle Chris Weidman tonight at UFC 162, reports have surfaced relaying that Silva will earn $600,000 tonight, plus an additional 200K if he wins. Weidman on the other hand, will earn $24,000 plus 24 grand more if he pulls off the upset.
Those are the figures that the Nevada State Athletic Commission has disclosed according to a report from MMA Weekly.com. As the aforementioned story relays, Silva earned 200 grand for his historic bout with Chael Sonnen at UFC 148 last July. Of course, none of these figures include any pay-per-view or performance bonuses Silva made for that fight, or will take home tonight, which could be sizeable.
Former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar is reportedly set to earn a minimum of $120,000, and the featherweight could make an extra 120K more if he defeats Charles Oliveira, whose show money is $21,000. The fighter will make 21 grand more if he defeats Edgar.
The complete UFC 162 payroll will be released next week by the NSAC after tonight’s card is concluded.
UFC 162 will be hosted by the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and the main card will be available via pay-per-view. Are you ready?
