UFC 166 is beginning to take shape as the card has added a welterweight scrap between Hector Lombard and Nate Marquardt. The bout will likely land on the evening’s main card. The pairing was first reported by MMAFighting earlier today.
Lombard will be making the cut to 170-pounds for the first time in his career (welterweight in PRIDE was 183lbs.) when he faces off with Marquardt. The former Bellator champion is making the cut after a 1-2 run in the UFC’s middleweight division. Both he and Marquardt are facing a bit of desperation in this fight, as Marquardt has dropped two straight.
UFC 166 is headlined by the third fight between UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez and Junior dos Santos. While a venue has yet to be officially announced, the billing is expected to take place at the Toyota Center. More bouts are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
