Not surprisingly, Colin “Freakshow” Fletcher has found a new promotional home, as BAMMA has announced that it’s signed the TUF “Smashes” finalist to a four fight deal.
The 30 year-old lightweight went 2-0 with the British based promotion prior to competing on the TUF “Smashes” season, which featured teams from the United Kingdom and Australia. Fletcher, who hails from Sunderland, England, was quoted saying in the announcement:
“From the darkest recesses of your mind, that place you fear to go, is from where I return to BAMMA. For too long now, the Lightweights have been having too much fun while I’ve been away. It may be fun for you now, but I will become the stuff of nightmares for any opponent that stands in my way. The BAMMA Lightweight title is my mission & nothing will stop me. I am back to declare an new era of The Freakshow on BAMMA”
Fletcher (8-3) advanced to “The Smashes” finale last December, but lost by unanimous decision to Norman Parke at UFC on FX 6. Then in March, at UFC 158, “Freakshow” was outscored by another TUF 16 finalist in Mike Ricci and lost by UD. Fletcher was released after the defeat.
Fletcher is scheduled to make his BAMMA debut on September 14th, but the man who is going to have to deal with “darkest recesses” of his mind that night, has not been determined yet (in other words, opponent is TBD).
