David Bielkheden vs. Mark Bocek Slated For UFC 97
David Bielkheden has announced he’ll return to the octagon at UFC 97 on April 18th in Montreal, Canada against Mark Bocek.
Bielkheden (13-6), who previously announced he’d return to action at UFC 96 in March, debuted in the UFC in the welterweight division but promptly dropped to lightweight after losing to Diego Sanchez at UFC 82. “The Brazilian Swede’s” 155-pound debut came at UFC 89 in October with a unanimous decision victory over Jess Liaudin.
Bocek (6-2) entered the UFC in 2007 with a 4-0 record but has since gone 2-2, dropping bouts to Frank Edgar and Mac Danzig while earning wins over Doug Evans and, most recently, Alvin Robinson. The bout will be Bocek’s second in front of his home country, previously losing to Danzig at UFC 83 in Montreal last April.
Chuck Liddell vs. Mauricio “Shogun” Rua headlines UFC 97, with middleweight champion Anderson Silva vs. Thales Leites, David Loiseau vs. Ed Herman, and Jonathan Goulet vs. Tamdan McCrory also rumored to take place at the event.

Yes Goulet is going to be fighting hell ya!!!!!
You mean getting knocked out.(?)
Goulet is a beast and no one acknowleges that he is exciting as hell
serious or sarcastic?
sarcasim, I just felt like being random and mis~informed for a minute… Goulet, well just watch his fight against Bang Ludwig thats all bottom line…… I dont know why, I just did..
Unfortunately I’ve not been able to find the 11 second KO of Ludwig over Goulet, which some claim to actually be 4 seconds.
But, that pretty much sums it up.
that was a really cool ko. goulet was just like dang.. he just knocked me out haha
justin its on one of the ufc ko dvd’s i have them im sure its on one of them
can’t wait to see the iceman hope he gets the win, also how bad is leites guna get his ass kicked? its even worse then rampage vs jardine, just guna throw some what ifs out! what if chuck wins say knock out early on, who does he fight then? the winner of silva machida but that will be a long wait for one of those guys, maybe forrest will be back an they can get it on for the no.1 contendership?? i see rampage beating jardine then getting evens, silva knocking machida out then rampage vs silva, then if chuck wins then fights forest in the summer beats him it could set up chuck vs rampage (who i belive will beat silva) for the last show of the year, I no its alot of what ifs but im bored an wanted to plan the ufc 205 belt future out haha have i missed anyone out??
*slightly random*
I was just wasting time thinking of how many LHW’s the UFC employs…..
Evans, Griffin, Rampage,Hendo (also MW), Liddell, Lyoto, Thiago Silva, Jardine, Cane, Wanderlei, Shogun, Bonnar, Franklin, Reljic, Irvin, Hamill, Vera, Schafer, Boetsch, Cantwell, Alexander, Stann, Jones, Reese Andy, Mendes, Drwal, Serati, Coleman (1fight @this weight)…. thats all that i could come up with and I know that there are a few more out there that i missed in this “stacked” division, who am i missing?
Al-Hassan, Jon Jones, “Darth” Bader, Vinny Magalhaes, Krysztof Soszynski, and many more, which can be conveniently found on the UFC website
Is Stann really in the UFC? When does he fight?
@ Mike, yes Stann is a member of the UFC, ZUFFA took the LHW division of the WEC and put their hand picked fighters in the UFC and got rid of that division in the WEC…. Stann was suppose to fight Cantwell (again) on one of the fight nights or fight for the troops ya I think fight for the troops yet Stann got injured soo when he gets healthy I believe he will make his UFC debut asap
Yes, fight for the troops. He could have been on the other end of the controversial Cantwell arm-bar instead of Al-Hassan had he not injured (I believe) his foot.
I dont know if Cantwell v Stann would have went down like that in the UFC, we will just have to wait and see i guess
Yeah, I don’t think Cantwell and Stann would have gone that way. I should have said “*could*” instead of “could” to indicate that. I do expect they’ll end up fighting each other again in the UFC.
Stann will make his debut against Soszynski at UFC 97
i think machida or Silva will get a shot before rampage. im a big fan of rampage, but who ever wins that fight cant be kept waiting much longer. people have been expecting machida to get a shot for a couple of fights now.
I totally agree. The winner of that fight will deserve a shot far more than Rampage. Whoever wins will be 14-0. Machida will most likely win and get a shot at the title. Rashad wont be able to handle his style and Machida will be champ. I will probably be able to hear Rashad’s loudmouth girlfriend crying all the way up here in Canada.
I put Jones in there damn, I was attempting to go off of memory but thx for the heads up on that new UFC website thingy
my bad on jones…sorry.
Haha
Why is this fight news?
Cuz the rockstar phenom, the snow flake with colored hair, the glass chin of men Goulet is fighting… Get excited bout that my friend, like pronto
O and Liddell v Rua and Silva v Leites really this card might be rather fun
Yeah I’m looking forward to seeing Liddell win again.
this is a easy title defense for silva unless he does something very silly. but where does he go from there? winner of marquadt or lazy brazilian dude who could be so much better (name escapes my brain right now(its 2 am) GOUVIEA knew it would come to me eventually. or Damian maia? obviously the winner of bisping and Henderson will get a shot. but other than that who is knocking on the proverbial door?
I would bet the farm that Loiseau knocks Herman out cold.
im super excited to see loiseau back in the ufc!!
And a few months ago people were giving me shhh about stating I think the Crow was coming back to the UFC, now he is back to fight infront of O’ Canada and I can’t wait, brutalize him with thy elbows, Crow
i should of added GSP as an option i suppose.
bielkheden!
also im pretty sure now that the ufc /dana will officialy annouce at the ufc 84 post press confrence that the winner of machida/silva will fight rashad at ufc 100…i gar-en-tee it!

I see you’ve made quite a few changes, Kris. Looks nice.
Yeah, I’m definitely digging this on the PC. Now to see how badly it messes with Opera on the Crackberry.
Looks fine from my iPhone.
Looks like absolute crap in Firefox….
Nevermind… looks much better now… I must have had a cached stylesheet or something.
Yeah, I think I had that happen as well. I had to refresh the page the first time I brought it up.
Had me worried there for a minute as I use Firefox and fully tested it in IE 6/7 and Firefox without issue. Glad it straightened itself out…
Yeah it was strange… I had to refresh several times before Firefox picked up the new stylesheet. It just didn’t want to let the old one go.
Next time try Ctrl-refresh. forces Firefox to ignore the cache and pull a whole new copy.
I love the new site! frenzy > sherdog
Thanks, this is just the beginning!
