A light heavyweight matchup of former Zuffa LLC. employees has been set for the World Series of Fighting’s fifth show. Anthony Johnson announced that he had agreed to face Mike Kyle at WSOF 5 during an interview.
Anthony “Rumble” Johnson last competed in a heavyweight bout against Andrei Arlovski at WSOF 2. Johnson broke Arlovski’s jaw en route to a unanimous decision victory that saw both fighters land heavy blows. Johnson has yet to lose since being cut by the UFC following multiple weight issues.
Mike Kyle heads into the bout after a victory over Travis Wiuff at CFA 11 that only took 21-seconds. The hard-hitting Kyle has seen mixed results in his last five, going 2-2 with a no contest erasing a devastating loss to Rafael “Feijao” Cavalcante at Strikeforce: Barnett vs. Cormier.
WSOF 5 is set for September 14 in Atlantic City, New Jersey. While no venue has been announced at this time, WSOF 2 took place at the Revel Hotel and Casino. More bouts are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
