A previously rumored bantamweight bout between Ivan Menjivar and Norifumi “Kid” Yamamoto has been confirmed for UFC 165. The bout will likely take place on the evening’s preliminary card. UFC officials made the bout official earlier today after the bout was previously rumored by MMAJunkie.
Both fighters will be heading into the bout in search of a much-needed victory. “The Pride of El Salvador” is coming off a loss at UFC 157 to perennial contender Urijah Faber, dropping him to 1-2 in his last three. He will be taking on Norifumi “Kid” Yamamoto when the UFC travels to Toronto.
Yamamoto has struggled to find any traction since joining the UFC. The once promising fighter has dropped to 1-5 in his last six, including three-straight losses in the Octagon. This string of losses puts Yamamoto in a must-win scenario when he hits the Octagon.
UFC 165 will take place Septemeber 21 and will mark the fourth time the UFC has traveled to Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The card is set to be headlined by a UFC light heavyweight title fight featuring champion Jon Jones taking on Alexander Gustafsson. More bouts are expected to be announced in the upcoming weeks.
