A pair of bouts have been reportedly targeted for unofficial UFC on FOX Sports 1 3 card. In the first targeted bout of the evening, light heavyweights Glover Teixeira and Ryan Bader are set to face off, while middleweights Ronaldo “Jacaré” Souza and Yushin Okami are also set to meet. Brazilian site Porto do Vale Tudo reported the pairings.
Glover Teixeira and Ryan Bader were originally set to square off at UFC 160 before Bader was forced off the card with injury. Teixeira would face off with James Te Huna instead, dispatching the fighter with a wicked submission finish. With most options either booked or on the shelf, the Bader-Teixeira bout made sense. This will be the second time Teixeira has fought an injured original opponent after defeating the replacement.
In the second targeted bout, Yushin Okami will face off with Ronaldo “Jacaré” in a tier one middleweight bout. “Jacaré” made his UFC debut at UFC on FX 8, where the former Strikeforce champion dispatched Chris Camozzi in impressive fashion. Okami will be looking to have a better trip to Brazil after being blasted by UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva in his first fight in Brazil at UFC 134.
UFC on FOX Sports 1 3 is currently unannounced but is rumored to land in Brazil this September, with Fortaleza and Belo Horizonte being the leading candidates to land on the card. The card is also expected to have a flyweight bout between Joseph Benavidez and Jussier “Formiga” da Silva.
