Hector Lombard is making it official and dropping to welterweight for his next fight in the UFC. The former middleweight is gunning for a shot against former Strikeforce welterweight champion Nate Marquardt when he makes the drop to 170. The move was made official on UFC Tonight.
Lombard will be making the drop to welterweight following a 1-2 run in the UFC’s middleweight division. The 5’9″ fighter had been working his way down in weight for the last few weeks, setting a personal deadline for last Friday.
There had been rumors that Lombard would serve as the coach for the upcoming TUF Nations: Australia vs. Canada, however the promotion decided to go with Kyle Noke instead.
Lombard’s welterweight debut is currently not set, but is expected to be announced for later this Fall.
