Saturday’s UFC on FUEL TV 10 card in Fortaleza, Brazil, not only featured plenty of highlight reel submission finishes (any jiu-jitsu practitioner’s dream) but the card also pulled fantastic ratings for FUEL TV. Although the card didn’t feature many North American fighters or an abundance of high profile names, the event was reportedly the second most watched in the station’s history. Clearly “Minotauro” Nogueira and Fabricio Werdum are a bit of a draw, as one would hope.
According to report from MMA Fighting.com’s Dave Meltzer, UFC on FUEL TV 10 drew just over 300,000 viewers for it’s 8:00PM to 11:20PM time slot. The only other card to date that’s drawn more viewers for the channel was UFC on FUEL TV 8 in March, which pulled 485,000 viewers. That card was headlined of course by Wanderlei Silva taking on Brian Stann. Having one one of the sport’s biggest names in the “Axe Murderer” fight a well known American fighter in Stann is sure to draw some views.
The June 8th card saw Werdum tap Nogueira out with a second round armbar, and also featured the welterweight finals for TUF Brazil 2, which ended when Leonardo Santos caught William Macario with a second round, arm-triangle-choke. Other main card bouts included Thiago Silva stopping Rafael Cavalcante in round one, and Daniel Sarafian tapping out Eddie Mendez with an arm-triangle-choke in the opening round.
Only two of the night’s 12 bouts went to the judge’s score cards, so people who tuned in were definitely treated to some great action.
