Fresh off his coaching stint on The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 2, Fabricio Werdum was interested in coaching the reality show again. Werdum seemed eager to get back into coaching at the UFC on FUEL TV 10 post-fight press conference.
The Brazilian heavyweight even had a specific idea for the show if UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez defeated Junior dos Santos in their upcoming bout, Team Mexico vs. Team Brazil. Werdum, who is fluent in Spanish as well as Portuguese and English, stated that he would love to be a part of something like that leading up to his next fight. With the UFC’s plans to head into Mexico soon, this could very well happen in some form.
While the Velasquez-Dos Santos rematch has yet to be announced at this time, Werdum seems content to wait his turn at the belt. Said Werdum, “I think if the UFC gave me the opportunity, for sure I’d bring a lot now. I think I’d wait and see who won the fight between Cain Velasquez and Junior dos Santos.”
Werdum has won three straight fights since returning to the UFC. The Brazilian fighter may be hesitant to jump into another bout after what happened in his first UFC stint, as he was passed over for a title shot and stuck with a debuting Dos Santos. The upset victory would see Werdum leave the promotion and jump-start the rise of Dos Santos.
