MMAFrenzy’s coverage of UFC on FUEL TV 10 continues with our recap of the final trio of fights on Facebook. In the featured preliminary bout, Raphael Assuncao defeated Vaughan Lee in their two round scrap. In other action, Felipe Arantes and Ildemar Alcantara picked up wins in Brazil.
Assuncao Submits Lee
Brazil’s Raphael Assuncao notched his fourth straight victory in the Octagon with an armbar finish of Vaughan Lee. The Atlanta transplant engaged in a tight first round with Lee but the fight changed in the second after a takedown. Assuncao would land a takedown after suffering a nasty cut above his left eye. It would not effect him at all however, as he transitioned to the mount and then to an armbar. After a brief struggle, Lee would be forced to tap quickly after Assuncao broke his grip.
Rafael is now 4-0 since dropping to bantamweight in the UFC, and is looking to position himself for a shot at the UFC bantamweight crown in his next fight.
Arantes Blasts Castro
Felipe Arantes and Godofredo Castro engaged in an all-out firefight tonight in Brazil. Arantes would find himself in a bit of trouble after being swept by Castro in the first. Arantes would wisely use a heelhook attack to sweep back on top of “Pepey.” The Brazilian fighter would unload with heavy elbows on the TUF: Brazil 1 finalist that forced the referee to intervene. The win brings Arantes to 2-1-1 in the Octagon, while “Pepey” drops to 1-2.
Alcantara Defeats Silva
Ildemar Alcantara and Leandro Silva met tonight in Fortaleza and sadly the best thing about this fight was the end. Silva and Alcantara never seemed to find a rhythm in the Octagon tonight and the bout dragged for three rounds. Alcantara would get the victory, but little else, as he improved to 2-0 in the UFC.
