Bellator MMA will now be broadcast in the British Isles as the promotion is set to begin airing on the VIVA network. The deal puts Bellator on TV in 116 countries and territories. Bellator officials announced the move on Thursday via press release.
The promotion will first begin airing on June 19 for Bellator 96 and then carry Bellator’s upcoming ninth season starting this fall.
Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney was particuarly thrilled with the deal, stating, “We are thrilled to finally bring the pure excitement of Bellator MMA to the legions of dedicated and knowledgeable mixed martial arts fans in the UK,” remarked Rebney. “Our long awaited expansion into the UK, one of the world’s MMA hot beds further illustrates our continued ascension in the MMA world.”
VIVA is a Viacom property that airs MTV, Comedy Central, and Nickelodeon programming in the UK. The network draws 3.7 million viewers a month in the hard to reach in the 16-34 age demographic.
