UFC 163: Nunes vs. Gaff Set for Rio

Sheila Gaff

A women’s bantamweight bout between Amanda Nunes and Sheila Gaff is headed to Rio this August. UFC officials announced the pairing earlier this week.

Gaff comes into the bout looking for her first win in the Octagon after getting handled by Sara McMann at UFC 159. “The German Tank” has been competing above her natural flyweight weight class since entering the Octagon. She will be looking to regain the momentum that helped her notch a three-fight win streak that included wins over flyweight contenders Aisling Daly and Jennifer Maia. She will face a tough test when she faces Nunes.

Strikeforce veteran Amanda Nunes is looking to get back on track after dropping to 1-2 in her last three. Nunes has been battling injuries as of late but Salvador, Brazil native possesses solid power and a good ground game that can cause trouble for opponents.

UFC 163 takes place August 3 at the HSBC Arena in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. A UFC featherweight title fight between champion José Aldo and Anthony Pettis will headline the August fight card. Light heavyweights Lyoto Machida and Phil Davis will co-headline the August billing. A welterweight battle between Demian Maia and Josh Koschek will also feature on the card.
