The UFC’s second UFC on FOX Sports 1 card will feature a bout between two TUF winners, as the promotion has announced that Season 11 winner Court McGee will battle recent “Smashes” winner Robert Whittaker at the event. The card will go down August 28th at the Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
McGee (15-3) is coming off a successful welterweight debut, as the former middleweight worked his way to a unanimous decision win over Josh Neer at UFC 157 in February. The victory came after McGee had dropped back-to-back decision losses to Nick Ring and Costa Philippou. The 28 year-old vet tapped out Kris McKray in June, 2010 to win TUF 11.
Whittaker (11-2) recently scored a memorable TKO win over TUF 16 winner Colton Smith in his last outing, which took place at UFC 160 on May 25th. The 22 year-old, Australian fighter worked his way to a UD victory over Brad Scott in December, to win the TUF “Smashes” series.
Earlier on Wednesday, the UFC announced that the UFC on FS 1 2 card would be co-headlined by a lightweight bout between Donald Cerrone and Junior dos Anjos. The event will be headlined by a welterweight tilt between Carlos Condit and Martin Kampmann.
The month of August is going to be crazy for MMA fans.
