UFC 163: Machida vs. Davis Targeted

Phil Davis

One part of the Jones-Gustafsson-Machida triangle is out of play as Lyoto Machida will apparently be facing off with Phil Davis at UFC 163. Brazilian site Porto do Vale Tudo first reported the prospective matchup.

Both fighters are coming off lackluster wins in their previous outings, with Machida defeating Dan Henderson at UFC 157 and Davis edging Vinny Magalhães at UFC 159. The agreement is not currently set in stone, but both fighters have agreed to the pairing verbally.

UFC 163 takes place August 3 at the HSBC Arena in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. A UFC featherweight title fight between champion José Aldo and Anthony Pettis will headline the August fight card. A welterweight battle between Demian Maia and Josh Koschek will also feature on the card.

UFC 163 Fight Card:

  • UFC Featherweight Title Fight: José Aldo (c) vs. Anthony Pettis
  • Lyoto Machida vs. Phil Davis
  • Demian Maia vs. Josh Koschek
  • Vinny Magalhães vs. Anthony Perosh
