You can add Cung Le to the long list of men who are interested in throwing down with Michael Bisping, as the highlight reel striker has mentioned the middleweight as someone he would like to fight when he finally returns to action. The 41 year-old Le continues to rehab his elbow, which required surgery to remove bone spurs, after he floored Rich Franklin at UFC on FUEL TV 6 last October.
While speaking to ESPN.com’s Franklin McNeil, Le reportedly didn’t go out of his way to call out Bisping, but did say the following about taking on the 4th ranked middleweight.
“That would be a great fight for the fans,” Le said, who also acknowledged in the interview that he’d interested in coaching TUF. “That would be a big fight. But I’m not the one to make that decision. Whether I’m at the top of that list for the fight or on the bottom, it ultimately comes down to who Joe Silva and the UFC decide who we fight.”
Yes. Who wouldn’t want to see that? While Bisping has had more than a few men express an interest in fighting him over the years, Rich Franklin and Luke Rockhold are two of the more recent competitors to relay that wish. When Bisping was asked about the prospect of fighting Le, the 34 year-old “Count” stated:
“Of those three, Cung Le would be the most attractive,” said Bisping, who is coming off a technical-unanimous decision win over Alan Belcher last month. “He’s on a two-fight win streak. He just knocked out Rich Franklin. So I would fight him.”
Now it remains to be seen when Le will be able to fight again, but if it’s in the coming months, this seems like a pretty good idea no?
