Affliction President Tom Atencio took to the Underground on Monday to refute reports that the promotion’s upcoming event, “Day of Reckoning” on January 24th in Anaheim, California, had sold fewer than 2,000 tickets.

“Just wanted to come on here and respond to all the rumors going around that we have only sold 1200-1500 seats. First of all i have no idea where this information is coming from, but it could’nt be farther from the truth,” wrote Atencio. “In reality we are opening up more seating to accomodate the demand for tickets. This event is stacked from top to bottom, and i personally cant wait to see every fight! For those of you that can’t make it out to the event be sure to watch the main card live on pay PPV as well as the complete undercard for free on HDNET.”

Rumors might be farther from the truth, but tell us where your ticket sales are at number wise!

  • willy d says:

Guess we will see on the ppv if there are in fact plenty of empty seats or the place is packed.

    • bo702 says:

I dont think I will be getting the PPV. Will see the fights on linker after it airs. Just not feeling this card enough to get it on PPV.

      • willy d says:

It is a spendy month for ppv buys, but we usually get a large group of people together, chip in $5, and get the cards. I’m hoping this will be the only month with 3 ppv’s and instead, more freebie’s.

  • FR702 says:

Just gave a quick check, with a week to go you can get 10 tickets (ticketmaster)
    Seats 1~10
    Section 209
    Row G
    Lower level Plaza
    Price Level 2= $450.00 (ea)

First attempt to find tickets, trust me if you live in the LA area or near LA go to Will CAll the day of the event and you will get a great seat for cheap…

T~shirt guy lied to us again F WAMMA

  • eldiablo says:

$450 sounds reasonable. Can’t really beat 6th row off the floor to see Fedor. At UFC 91 I snuck down to a similar area and people with floor seats were coming up to where we were (apparently unless you’re in the first 4 rows on the floor, you can’t see anything). Those seats were $750 – $1000 depending on the row. Mind you, tickets for UFC 96 in section 101, 4th row (right at the fighter’s entrance) went for $152 a piece.

I do however have a conflict of interest with the Affliction date. The IQMMA (indian reserve mma organization) is having a show an hour away from me on the same night featuring Dan Severn (yes, the 50 year old will be fighting). What do I do? Could always catch Affliction on repeat, but it’s just not the same.

    • justin says:

Or you could refuse to give T-Shirt guy any money because he’s a jerk and makes money off of other promotions so he can start his own competing promotion, go watch Severn live, and then watch it on linker after the fact. That’s what I would do anyways.

      • T3chn3tnium says:

whats this linker you speak of. i’m moving to dallas and won’t be able to purchase this fine product of our beloved wife beater.

      • fr702 says:

Finally getting the move done T3?? Linker perhaps = fightlinker.?? Or you can just wait for it to be on mma-core.!!

      • justin says:

Yeah, fight linker. You can also try mmashare, or mma-tv, or justin.tv/emmatv, basically there are a lot of places you can watch fights on the net, justin.tv and mma-tv will be live streams, mmashare and linker would have them up after the fact.

  • dbiz says:

“It’s ALL LIES!!! We’re doing fine!! Our business is sound, we can put on lots of shows. We’re real PLAYERS in MMA!!! … Hey, why are you auctioning off our office?”

    Sound at all familiar?

  • DR.DOOM says:

I dont personally care what financial state a company is in . I leave those details to the bean counters . the card itself is a good card . Im an MMA fan not an MMA company critic . If you are looking at how the company works and not the shows you are looking at the wrong thing . Its in the ring with the fighters … I dont care what the owner does its his money .

    • dbiz says:

You don’t care when there are no more Fedor cards for you to see? Cuz we’re headed that way FAST.

      • Chris L. says:

I agree DBiz…mainly because he won’t sign w/ the UFC since they won’t give him all the other perks he wants in his contract. So he’ll more than likely go join Big Steroid Foot in Japan if Affliction closes.

    • Justin says:

I’m not upset with what he does with his money. I’m upset with where he got his money. I’m a person that takes who runs a company and the type of person they are into consideration before I give them my money. If I knew that someone started a company with stolen money I would not give then any of mine. T-shirt guy made his money off of Dana White and UFC fighters wearing his clothes causing people to want to buy them, and ProElite fighters wearing his clothes causing people to want to buy them. I don’t like the fact that he made his money off of other companies and then became their competitor. Is it illegal? No. Does that mean it’s ok? No. You do what you want with your money, that’s fine, but I’m not giving him any of mine.

      • russiandoeboi says:

        i respect your point,
but feel you are taking a narrow perspective.

ok so capitalism i not illegal but you are loyal to originators. whatever.

        but,
didnt dana buy the company from some other guys?
is mma his invention? -clearly not.
didn’t the gracie’s prove that it’s rock paper scissors
and then others added on to the strategy.

it’s a sport that needs money to pay so many pro fighters.

the roots go back a hundred generations around the world.

respect the ancestors, before the current leading brand.

      • Justin says:

You clearly missed my point. Dana didn’t make money off the original creators of the UFC then open a competing promotion. The Fertitas purchased a dying company that did simetiin they were interested in, hired Dana to run it, resurected the sport in the US, then made money on it. HUGE difference from what t~shirt guy did.

  • justin says:

The more I see this story at the top of the page, the more I think about the fact that feeling that there is a need to deny poor ticket sales, only serves to demonstrate that there are poor ticket sales.

    • dbiz says:

The arena will be packed. But I suspect they’re going to be practically giving tickets away. Kinda like that last Affliction event with the 3000 giveaways.

If they couldn’t sell out Fedor’s first US appearance in recent history, they have got to be hurting now.

  • gunslinger says:

Id rather listen to bad rappers like lil wayne than listen to atencio talk and believe me thats alot I hate “LIL WAYNE” WORST RAPPER EVER!

  • gunslinger says:

weezy sucks…..listen to good hip hop artists like nas, immortal technigue,a tribe called quest, biz markie, the game,nwa,2pac,biggie,run dmc , common and many more but weezy just sucks!

  • gunslinger says:

yes the game have you ever heard his cd’s there classics……the game is leaps and bounds ahead of lil wayne….I mean lil wayne is a joke and is killing hip hop even more……examples- mrs.officer ,lillipop, duffle bag boy, phone home, a milli….he was only good when he came out with tha block is hot and thats it he sucks now

  • Vinz C1ortho says:

ya’ll are haters. It’s great. That dude is loaded and thus pwnz your faces :D

Then again he might not be loaded for very long lol :D

  • russiandoeboi says:

so, it’s only a good fight if it makes money???

    • dbiz says:

No, the fights will be fine, I’m sure. The problem is, Affliction will be just a t-shirt company again soon and then there’s no more Fedor, unless HDNet shows the NYE freakshow from Saitama.

He’ll have to go back to breaking his hand in obscurity!

  • russiandoeboi says:

this sounds like wishful thinking of dana whos mantra is

‘if i dont own it it’s pooop’

even if affliction trump dont pan out
the reputation grows and will be bought by someone
