It’s been less than 24 hours since the news surfaced that Josh Barnett has signed a multi-fight deal with the UFC, and already the man known as “The Warmaster” is showcasing his promotional talents. Speaking via Twitter, the 35 year-old Barnett made the following statement:
The enemy has returned. I’ve signed w/the@UFC& no heavyweight is safe. They’re all due a lesson in violence from the Warmaster.
A statement like that definitely sounds more threatening with “Warmaster” at the end rather than “Baby Faced Assassin”, or does it?.
It remains to be seen who the UFC matches Barnett up against next, and when, but there’s little doubt it won’t be against of the promotion’s top heavyweight fighters. That said, eight of the promotion’s top ten heavyweights are currently booked for fights. The only men who aren’t? Daniel Cormier and Frank Mir.
Barnett is only one win removed from his UD loss to Cormier last May, so, that’s not going to happen. Considering the PRIDE vet has already been discussing the possibility of facing Mir, however, that fight could very well get booked.
