Alistair Overeem will be making his return to the Octagon a bit sooner than planned as he heads to Boston to face Travis Browne. The bout is merely expected to co-headline the UFC on FOX Sports 1 card according to MMAJunkie.
Overeem will be making his return to the cage after a surprising loss to Antonio Silva at UFC 156. Overeem was originally set to meet Junior dos Santos this weekend at UFC 160 before an injury sidelined him and he was forced out of the bout. The Dutchman was originally believed to be making his return at UFC 164 in Milwaukee but will instead make his return a couple of weeks earlier in Boston.
Travis Browne got back in the win column this past April with a somewhat controversial victory over Gabriel Gonzaga. The victory allowed the native Hawaiian to get back in the win column after taking his first career loss to Antonio Silva following a hamstring injury during the bout.
UFC on FOX Sports 1 1 will take place August 17 at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts. The card will also feature a bout between Joe Lauzon and Michael Johnson. No main event has been announced at this time, however UFC president Dana White has promised a huge card for the UFC’s debut on the burgeoning network.
