UFC newcomer Neil Grove will make his promotional debut against Justin McCully at UFC 95 on February 21st in London, England, Fighters Only is reporting.

Grove (7-1) is a Cage Rage veteran who emerged as a heavyweight contender in the promotion before it closed down in late-2008. His lone loss was a majority decision defeat to Rob Broughton early last year, while all seven of his victories have come via knockout, including a 10-second stoppage of heavily-favored James Thompson in 2007. He had been expected to meet Mostapha Al-Turk in his debut bout as they were scheduled to fight for the heavyweight title in Cage Rage before the promotion ceased promoting events. However, Al-Turk took heavy damage in his December loss to Cheick Kongo and is unable to make the quick turnaround.

A member of Tito Ortiz’s Team Punishment, McCully (8-4-2) has won five of his last six fights, including two of three in the UFC. After winning a unanimous decision over striker Antoni Hardonk in his UFC debut, McCully suffered a first-round submission defeat to heavyweight contender Gabriel Gonzaga at UFC 86 last July. He rebounded in December with a unanimous decision victory over Eddie Sanchez on the preliminary card at UFC Fight Night 16: UFC Fight for the Troops.

UFC 95 is headlined by Diego Sanchez vs. Joe Stevenson and also features Dan Hardy vs. Rory Markham, Wilson Gouveia vs. Nate Marquardt, Demian Maia vs. Chael Sonnen, Josh Koscheck vs. Paulo Thiago.

I’m sorry to sound ungrateful…but this is a horrible card!!

  • JOHNBOY says:

joe daddy vs sanchez maia vs sonnen koscheck fighting an nate the great, sounds ok to me mate, not every card can be as big as the december one, strong card if u ask me

    • fr702 says:

I’m with you JohnBoy, I’m not quite sure what the others want but this card has some interesting fights forsure, perhaps they aren’t into ground battle all that much, or the fact that the UFC actually offered a “one fight contract” to Paulo Thiago (for all the people that wanted to see Randy v Fedor, everyone just wanted the one fight contract and ZUFFA wouldn’t give it to Fedor but the will to Thiago?) Wilson v Nate, Rory is back, Kos v Thiago and Sanchez v Stevenson.. Sounds pretty entertaining to me its not like this card is headlined by Kevin Fergouson v Daivid Abbott!! Justin v Grove ya don’t care too much for this fight but the card soo far is looking pretty good imo…

      • Justin says:

I agree that it’s looking like a pretty good card. On the contract thing with Fedor and Thiago, there is a big difference between the two, Fedor would have been fighting for a title Thiago will not be.

      • fr702 says:

I was just stirring the pot Justin that’s all….

  • gunslinger says:

are you guys crazy every single fight on this card is great daddy vs sanchez , maia sonnen koscheck vs undefeated paulo thiago, nate vs gouveia, hardy vs markham …this card is spectacular and i would pay for it if i had to….fights are fights stop complaing about the free cards you idiots i hate when people do that …”free mma is cool but this card sucks” sorry to tell you this Eye-Rhyme ufc fan and us and chuck but great cards arent based on fighters there based on how the fights turn out..look at affliction banned that card looked great on paper but most of the fights ended up boring in the end……..im sorry that gsp,bj,silva, chuck, rashad, forrrest, wandi and rampage couldnt be on this card for you guys to watch i guess youll have to stick to watching bad free fights like DIEGO SANCHES VS JOE STEVENSON and other boring fights with no name no skill fighters stop complaining and watch the fights…wah wah wah wah wah wah wah these are some really great fights to be free almost every fight there is ppv worthy….im srry that the ufc cant put all the big names guys on every card i guess fighters dont need time to rest and we hate watching fighters fight at 100% who wants to watch that crap!…(sarcastic)…stop whining and watch the card thank you and good bye if you feel the need to complain more please please send me a private comment dont feel the need to waste space on the threads to complain!, GUN OUT!

    • JOHNBOY says:

ha ha well put gun i like it! i mean who doesn’t want to see the nightmare fight at 155? he was a top contender at 170 so the maths tell us he should rule the 155 division, but as we all no this is mma and anything can happen, and joe daddy is a beast ok hes lost 2 of his last 3 fights but that was to BJ PENN and KENNY, imo the top 2 155 fighters in mma, then u got maia i hate the guy but u dont wana go to the ground cos its guna be game over, so will be intresting to see how the WEC champ deals with him, kos comeing off that big knockout win, man this card does not suck, if u are fans of maa then u should like this card, and stop ****ing about money cos u dont even have to pay for it!

      • gunslinger says:

thank you johnboy glad we r in agreement.. whiny free mma fans are my biggest pet peve(spelled wrong im sure)

    • Eye-Rhyme says:

      WOW! haha
well i was speaking from a business perspective…and i was not fully aware that this was a FREE card! relaaaaax perro…no need to go loco on the keys! haha

  • fr702 says:

Seriously tho, I would like to hear why you guys believe this is a horrible shhhity card?? I’m just curious at this point, we have told you guys why we believe this doesn’t suck (which it clearly doesn’t), again just curious..

    • Eye-Rhyme says:

Personally, i don’t dislike any of the fights. I just do not see how diego vs stevenson is main event worthy. I like both fighters…but be 4real…joe daddy just got destroyed by kenflo…and i dont get how his next fight is the main event…its just kind of unfair…same with diego…we all know he is a good fighter….but we are unaware of what he is like @ lightweight…so to sum it all up…neither of the 2 are deserving of a main event fight at the moment!!!
sooo don’t think that i dislike the fights…i just don’t think its fair that these 2 get the main event slot…

      • fr702 says:

Ok well PPV worthy main event perhaps it isn’t quite up to par I guess you can.. If I was capable of going I would go to this event…. But as far as a free event I believe it is a really good event better than any other org can offer that’s for certain..

    • jabba463 says:

This is not free for the UK people who put their trust and faith into the UFC and Dana White, by buying tickets for this event without a card announced. Once again the UK is screwed over!
Dont get me wrong, the talent is there for all to see and no doubt it will be an experience, but this card is missing a main event. Having seen the card now, there is no way I would have ever bought the tickets for this poor card.

  • JOHNBOY says:

just read that rampage vs evens is set for july 4th ufc 100

    • From MMABay? That’s the only site I’ve found it on but they’re not reputable enough to consider this a fact just yet, though I wouldn’t be surprised if the UFC would lock down that fight to headline UFC 100 and sell out the event quickly.

      • fr702 says:

Right I didn’t find that either, MMAbay or whatever is essentially I joke I’ve heard I’ve never been there… If I want a joke I will got to fightlinker for humor, I thank you Kris for this site I really truly enjoy it

      • T3chn3tnium says:

i saw on espn that the 2 were set to fight in april.. but would make sense to put it on the 100th event..

      • Thanks FR, the guys at Fightlinker are great (and are good friends of mine).

      • JOHNBOY says:

yeah it was on MMAbay, dont even no how i ended up on there i was looking at some of c.b dollaways blogs and when i clicked a link it sent me there, just thought ide tell u guys what ive read,

      • Oh yeah, people sharing rumors is great because I love reading them, but I just wanted to mention that it should be taken as rumor and nothing more at this point.

  • andy says:

ive had so many arguments with ppl who are goin to this event. i got my ticket straght away and i cant wait. all the fights look ace.
it would have been nice to have chuck or silva but so what if we aint.
what ive learned about a ufc event is that the prelims can be amazin and as soon as the main card gets underway things can go down hill. gunslinger’s right…a fights a fight and the fights we got look (on paper) like great fights.

if your gonna cry cuz chuck or silva aint fightin dont watch/sell your ticket or just watch wwe. choice is yours……..

    • Justin says:

I personally would b willing to pay to go to pretty much any UFC event that was within a 3-4 hour drive. I mean some of these cards I’ve seen the tickets around $50 for the nose bleeds. I’ve spent close to that just sitting at the bar or even at home watching on tv by myself.

      • fr702 says:

Justin it is sooo easy to double that pay 100 and have a decent seat and enjoy the experience, atleast that’s the way I think of going to a top notch event… I’ve driven hours to go to events and made sure I had wonderful seats too truly enjoy the event that’s what I think of that there

      • justin says:

Maybe easy for you…I have a hard time parting with that kind of money. I have a hard time parting with $50 for an event, heck the hockey tickets I got I only paid $40 for tickets to three games, the last one I sat with my back against the wall. But really, in a place that seats 10-15k, there’s not really a bad seat in the house. The RBC seats 20+ for hockey, and there’s still not a terrible seat in the house… the same cannot be said for BoA Stadium where the Panthers play football.

      • fr702 says:

Justin no offense intended, and it isn’t that easy for me persay, yet I’m just a believer of if you’re goin to do it, do it right save it and work towards it… That’s just my thought process again no offense intended

      • T3chn3tnium says:

The AAC in dallas is a good venue. I’ve seen the mavericks against the wall and got a very good glimpse of kobe doing his thing. i only paid $15 for those.

      • justin says:

        FR,
No offense taken. In my situation, “hard to part with” doesn’t necessarily mean “don’t have it,” though it has at times. I just have other things that are more important, in the long term, to do with that money, so if I could get in the door at the RBC Center for $50, I’d be completely stoked about that, and thoroughly enjoy the experience. Especially considering, they might make it a first level event for maybe a UFN (keeping it to about 10-14k seats). BTW if anyone cares I was wrong about the seats for Hockey, the actual numbers are:

Four different seating levels provide 18,176 seats for hockey, 19,722 for basketball, 19,500 for center-stage concerts, and 18,800 for endstage 360 performances.

I would think if the UFC had a PPV you would be looking at seats close to center-stage concerts, but I would expect a UFN at RBC before a PPV.

      • I’ve had $50, $100, and $200 seats and they were all about the same, though they were all at different arenas which makes comparing hard. For UFC 96 I bought $100 tickets (I’m credentialed but my girlfriend likes me to go with her) and they’re two rows back from $200 tickets plus in a section where there’s waiters to get your beer and food.

For that event there was a pretty noticeable drop in ticket prices. Normally the low tickets are $50 and the most expensive are $500 ($1000 in Vegas I think), but for 96 there were $37 tickets available and floor seats were “only” $350. From what I’ve heard you don’t want to be on the floor.

      • andyroo says:

ive paid £150 for these and when i went to newcastle i paid £200 and the seats were amazin. we got to meet bruce and herb. it was werth while payin it for the experiance.
i think it was about £60-70 pound we paid for manchester and to be honest they were the best seats (view wise)

  • canadamuayguy says:

not sure who 2 pick cuz I dont care 4 either.

  • ryanmoney says:

Im looking forward to this show. Who can say that this card is bad? Looks cool enough to me. Apart from Grove, GRRRR
