UFC interim bantamweight Renan Baráo is likely off UFC 161 with a reported foot injury. It is currently unclear what the UFC will do at this time. Brazilian site Tatame first reported the injury.
Baráo was originally set to defend his interim crown for the second against Eddie Wineland this June in Winnipeg. It is currently not clear if the UFC will look to reschedule the bout or call on a replacement to face Wineland.
UFC 161 takes place June 15 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The card is currently set to be co-headlined by a pair of light heavyweight battles pitting Rashad Evans vs. Dan Henderson and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira vs. Mauricio “Shogun” Rua 2.
Was just told that Barao has a medical exam scheduled for Monday, at which point the final decision on his status will be made.
