MMAFrenzy’s of UFC on FX 8 continues with our coverage of the final trio of fights from the six-fight FUEL TV preliminary card. In the featured FUEL TV bout, Nik Lentz defeated Hacran Dias with a superior display of wrestling. In other action, Francisco Trinaldo and Gleison Tibau picked up key victories.
Lentz Edges Dias
Nik Lentz engaged in a tough bout with Hacran Dias tonight in Brazil. The “Carny” used superior wrestling to earn the first two rounds of the fight before Dias threw everything he had left at Lentz in the final frame. Lentz was able to hold on however, and stays perfect since his drop to featherweight last August.
Trinaldo Submits Rio
Brazilian fighter Francisco Trinaldo (pictured) picked up an impressive victory tonight against Mike Rio in his home country. Trinaldo would land a wild takedown in the first and quickly advanced to a extremely rare arm-triangle choke from the half-guard. The win improves The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil veteran to 2-1 since returning to lightweight and 3-1 overall since the show.
Tibau Crushes Cholish
Gleison Tibau was on his game tonight in his native Brazil against John Cholish. Tibau simply bullied Cholish the majority of the fight with better striking and grappling. In the second round, Tibau would rock Cholish with solid striking and he quickly pressed the advantage before securing the fight ending choke in the ensuing scramble. The win helps the Brazilian snap back into the win column after a loss to Evan Dunham at UFC 156. The win also keeps him off the cut list, the Brazilian has not fought outside the UFC since 2007.
