UFC’s Corassani Calls Out McGregor

Kelsey Mowatt

Conor McGregor lived up to the hype, and then some, in his Octagon debut last month, by stopping Marcus Brimage in just over one minute at UFC on FUEL TV 9. While the victory impressed plenty of fans and observers, that hasn’t stopped Akira Corassani from calling for a August 17th bout with the Irish fighter.

Corassani has posted a video on YouTube, giving McGregor 48 hours to accept his challenge to fight at the upcoming UFC on FOX Sports 1 card.  Although the Swedish fighter wants to throw down with McGregor at the  Boston bound event, he added:

“I respect you. I respect your team and I respect the Republic of Ireland, but, it’s time to do this.”

The 30 year-old Corassani (11-3) is coming off a split decision win over Andy Ogle  and a unanimous decision victory against Robbie Peralta, after competing in the 14th season of “The Ultimate Fighter.”

McGregor (13-2) signed with the UFC armed with an eight fight win streak. Following his win over Brimage last month, which earned McGregor “Knockout of the Night” honors, UFC President Dana White relayed that he was hoping to book the former Cage Warriors champ on the August 17th event.
