Not long after the UFC announced that it will be producing another international season of “The Ultimate Fighter”, featuring teams from Canada and Australia, the promotion is denying that TUF Brazil has been cancelled. After all, how could anything MMA related fail in Brazil right?
In response to a report out of Brazil that says the show won’t be renewed, due to the sagging ratings of TUF Brazil 2, the UFC released a statement saying everything is just fine (quote via MMA Junkie.com):
“The information is inaccurate. The Ultimate Fighting Championship and Globo are happy with this successful partnership, which includes broadcasts of a few of the UFC’s main events and exclusivity for the reality show in Brazil.”
Alright. Who’s going to coach TUF Brazil 3 then? Bet on it being another of the nation’s top fighters. Or, maybe they should bring in Chael Sonnen? That would spike ratings pretty fast.
The current season of TUF Brazil features legendary heavyweight Antonio “Minotauro” Nogueira and veteran Fabricio Werdum as opposing coaches. The latest season, which features welterweight competitors, is reportedly being broadcast by Globo at a later timeslot.
“Big Nog” and Werdum will fight at UFC on FUEL TV 10 on June 8th, which will also feature the season’s tournament finale.
