Although Pat Healy will finally return to the UFC armed with a six fight win streak, it wasn’t long ago that the rugged lightweight saw two fights with former Strikeforce champ Gilbert Melendez vanish due the latter being hurt. While other notable vets from the defunct promotion have already made a serious impact in the Octagon, Healy will get his big chance to do the same at UFC 159, when he takes on Jim Miller.
Of course, Miller has been one of the top lightweights in the UFC for sometime, and although Healy won’t win a shiny, pretty belt if he wins Saturday night, he knows a victory would be huge for his career. While speaking to MMA Junkie.com Radio, the Team Quest fighter noted:
“There were some trying times last year with the frustration of those fights falling through, but I’m definitely well past all that, and getting Jim Miller on the main card on of a UFC event feels pretty much as good as a title fight in Strikeforce.”
Although Healy will definitely have his hands full against Miller, “Bam Bam’s” return to the Octagon has been a little overlooked by some, especially when you consider the only man to beat him in his last 10 fights is Josh Thomson.
In other words, Miller versus Healy could steal the show Saturday. Definitely a must see.
