Bisping: Belcher’s Career Is “Pathetic”

Although Chael Sonnen didn’t give Jon Jones the gears during yesterday’s UFC 159 media call, Michael Bisping promptly stepped up to fill the trash talk void. Of course, the brash British fighter is set to take on Alan Belcher at this Saturday’s card, and Bisping clearly doesn’t think much of the punishing middleweight’s chances.

As Belcher was fielding a question regarding what a win over Bisping would do for his career, the polarizing fighter from “across the pond” decided to step in and let the American know.

“Let me just add to that: a win over me for Alan Belcher would be by far, the biggest win of his pathetic career,” said an angry Bisping before adding “I ain’t going to lose to you mate; it’s in the bag. It’s a formality. All I’ve got to do is show up, slap your little face, take my check and go home.”

Belcher is, of course, just one of many middleweights who have called out Bisping in the past, and the latter seems to have taken it somewhat personally. But “pathetic”? Really? Then again, the former TUF winner has always been good at riling up fans and promoting a bout. The thousands of boos Bisping will receive Saturday will prove that point.

Where the two noted strikers agreed, is that Saturday’s fight is extremely important, since Belcher is coming off a loss to Yushin Okami and Bisping was stopped by Vitor Belfort in his last outing.
