The GLORY World Series is headed to New York City on June 22 for GLORY 9. The card will feature kickboxing star Danel Ghita and rising stars Francois Ambang, and Brett Hlavacek taking to the Hammerstein Ballroom. The promotion will also host an eight-man light heavyweight tournament that night in NYC. GLORY officials announced the move to MMAFrenzy earlier today.
Kickboxing superstar Daniel Ghita will take on Muay Thai champion Brice Guidon in the night’s featured superfight. Ghita is looking to get back on track after dropping a loss to Gokhan Saki at GLORY 6 in Istanbul. Ghita is 46-9 with 35 KOs in his kickboxing career. His opponent, Guidon, is 28-8 with 13 KOs and hails from France.
“We are thrilled to kick off the expansion of GLORY’s world championship kickboxing series to the U.S. with such a high-caliber event in the sports and entertainment epicenter that is New York City,” said GLORY Sports International CEO Andrew Whitaker via press release. “We are looking forward to establishing the GLORY brand in the U.S. with this debut event that will showcase the product for what it is – the most exciting and elite form of world-class kickboxing, or martial arts stand-up fighting.”
GLORY 9 will also feature a single-elimination light heavyweight tournament on the June 22 card.
