UFC on FOX 7 kicked off at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California with a two fight Facebook card. In the second fight of the evening, Anthony Njokuani crushed Roger Bowling in the second round. In tonight’s opener, Cuban Olympic wrestler Yoel Romero steamrolled Clifford Starks.
Njokuani Blasts Bowling
Anthony Njokuani was determined to score a victory over Strikeforce veteran Roger Bowling. After a back-and-forth first round, Bowling made the mistake of rushing Njokuani with his hands down. “The Assassin” would capitalize with a short left hook that instantly knocked out the Strikeforce veteran. The win gets Njokuani back to .500 in the Octagon.
Romero Crushes Starks
In tonight’s opening bout, Yoel Romero (pictured) wasted little time in dispatching Clifford Starks. Romero would land a devastating flying knee that was the beginning of the end of the fight. The 2000 Olympic silver medalist would immediately pounce and put away Starks in his UFC debut. Romero is now 5-1 in his MMA career, with his lone loss coming against Former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Rafael “Feijao” Calvacante at 205.
