The UFC has added an electric matchup to UFC 162 as Edson Barboza faces off with John Makdessi. The two exciting strikers will bring an exciting matchup to the UFC’s July card, though it is currently uncertain where the bout will land on the card. UFC officials announced the move on Friday.

John Makdessi has won two straight fights in the UFC, last defeating Daron Cruishank at UFC 158. The Canadian fighter’s two-fight win streak got the fighter back on track after a two-fight losing streak. His opponent, Edson Barboza, bounced back from a 2012 loss to Jamie Varner with a brutal victory over Lucas Martins at UFC on FX 7.

UFC 162 takes place July 6 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The card will be headlined by a UFC middleweight title fight as champion Anderson Silva takes on Chris Weidman. A co-headliner has yet to be officially named for the card.
