Pearson Stops Couture
While Ryan Couture made history in the Octagon tonight (first son of UFC fighter to fight in UFC), it was not his night in Stockholm. Couture did a good job of implementing his gameplan in the first round, prevent Pearson from being able to get off with the solid boxing combos the British fighter is known for.
That would all change in the second round thought, as The Ultimate Fighter 9 champion would catch a Couture kick and turn the fight into his kind of fight. Pearson took Couture down and began to pound away with strikes. Couture would work back to his feet, but also worked right into Pearson’s strengths.
Pearson would swarm with some beautiful combinations that eventually forced a stop to the fight at 3:45 of the second round. Pearson has now won two straight since returning to lightweight.
