MMAFrenzy’s coverage of UFC on FUEL TV 9 kicks off with our coverage of the opening trio of Facebook preliminary fights. The opening salvo of fights was topped by Ryan LaFlare defeating Ben Alloway. In other UFC on FUEL TV 9 action, Tom Lawlor and Papy Abedi notched wins.
LaFlare Dominates Alloway
Ryan LaFlare marked a dominant UFC debut over TUF: Smashes fighter Ben Alloway. LaFlare dominated the fight with solid striking in the clinch and very strong wrestling on the ground. LaFlare stays undefeated with the victory.
Lawlor Submits Kuiper
Tom Lawlor showed some fortitude in today’s fight with Michael Kuiper. Lawlor hurt his knee early in the fight and tried to fight through it. The injured knee buckled towards the end of the first but Kuiper was unable to take advantage. Lawlor rebounded in the second round and pulled off an impressive guillotine choke. The win gets Lawlor back in the win column after a controversial loss to Francis Carmont at UFC 154.
Abedi Edges Yousef in Opener
Swedes Papy Abedi and Besam Yousef brought their best into the cage in today’s opening bout. The bout all came down to the scoring of the second round. While Abedi controlled the opening frame and about half of the second, Yousef roared back at the end of the round with a strong showing in the last part of the second and most of the third round. Abedi snapped a two fight losing streak with the win.
