It was a highly competitive Season 8 Featherweight Tournament Final as Mike Richman and Magomedrasul Khasbulaev took the cage. After fifteen minutes, it was the Russian that would leave Bellator 95 at the Revel in Atlantic City, New Jersey as a tournament champion.
The bout played out largely on the feet, where both men were fairly evenly matched, but it was the varied striking assault of “Frodo” that saw him control the pace early on. The fighter from Dagestan seemed to slow in the middle period, opening the door for Richman to make a comeback at the end of the round.
It was all for naught for “The Marine,” however, as Khasbulaev would seemingly get a second wind, once again edging a round in the closing by virtue of a diverse attack.
In the end, the judges would render a unanimous 30-27 decision for “Frodo.” That said, the score did not reflect the competitiveness of the bout.
