UFC on FUEL TV 9 has a new matchup as Gegard Mousasi will face off with UFC newcomer Ilir Latifa (7-2 1 NC) this Saturday. UFC president Dana White announced the matchup via twitter.

Latifa is currently riding a three-fight win streak and is a training partner of the injured Alexander Gustafsson. The Swede has fought notable bouts with Bellator light heavyweight tournament champion Emanuel Newton and a notorious bout with former Bellator fighter Blagoi Ivanov where the ring broke during their fight in Bulgaria.

The UFC was very limited with their options due to any prospective replacement needing to be licensed by the SMMAF.

Mousasi’s original opponent, Alexander Gustafsson, was officially ruled out for the UFC on FUEL TV 9 card by the SMMAF earlier today due to a cut sustained last week.

UFC on FUEL TV 9 is scheduled for the Ericsson Globe Arena in Stockholm, Sweden on April 6. Last year’s UFC: Sweden set attendance records for the arena after selling out in three hours.
