Nelson-Riley, Beotsch-Brilz, and Jensen-Steinbeiss Added to UFC 96

Shane Nelson vs. Aaron Riley, Tim Boetsch vs. Jason Brilz, and Ryan Jensen vs. Steve Steinbeiss have been added to the rumored lineup for UFC 96, which takes place on March 7th at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio.
Though the event still lacks a main event and light heavyweight draw Keith Jardine, who had been rumored for the card, has been shifted to UFC 97, the fight card for UFC 96 appears nearly complete.
MMA Weekly has confirmed the lightweight bout between Riley (27-10-1) and Nelson (11-3) while MMA Junkie recently reported the addition of the middleweight fight featuring Jensen and Steinbeiss as well as the light heavyweight contest between Boetsch and Brilz.
Additionally, lightweight David Bielkheden recently announced that he’s also expected to appear on the card.

I didn’t realize Dana was planning an event that had ten prelim fights and zero main card fights. Seriously, not only should this be free on Spike TV but the tickets to get into the arena should be free also. and the beer and nachos inside the arena should be free too. Surely this is a joke. How on Earth did Chuck Liddell get on a main card. Surely this will all change.
If you dont like it dont watch it. There are a lot of people out there that used to like Chuck but after a few losses they seemed to fall off the bandwagon. Good thing there are still a lot of us that support him through the bad times as well as the good. That is what being a true fan is all about. Like him or not, he is largely responsible for making the UFC and MMA in general what it is today. Go Chuck!

Chuck is the man! and is a huge asss draw $$$$ so yes he is a main event i am pumped to watch him, just as much as ever!
This looks like a really good card to me, if Liddell stays on the card I think they need to get a good opponent for him. There aren’t any “big name” fights really, but certainly a lot of intriguing matchups. I think I would like to see Nelson bumped to the prelims of UFN 17, and then put Fioravanti v. AJ on the main card of this event.

carwin/GG seems to be the fight i’m most interested in seeing so far. if chucks the main event they have to throw in a big name against him. i bet its jardine.
Na i dont think it will be Jardine, the rumor has it Jardine will be facing Luis Cane possibly… I dont know who would be facing Liddell that would be worthy of being the main event to draw numbers with Liddell

The Jardine Luis fight is really intriguing if it comes off, with Jardine getting ko’d and having a lackluster (yet I found entertaining) fight against Vera and being 3~2 in his last 5, and Luis being 2~0 1 dq and wins being over Lambert and Soku its time for him to step up in competetion and Jardine doesn’t want to have to back to the “drawing board” if he loses to Luis the dymanmics of this fight is what makes it interesting to me, cheers
Why are we saying cool return for Nelson???? This guy is an idiot just like Junie. Please Riley, knock him out of him so we can get rid of another bad fighter that happened to get on the show. This won’t be free either, there’s a free one coming up and like it or not Chuck is still a big draw

I definitely want to see Riley beat Nelson. I didn’t like his smack talking on the show, especially since he couldn’t back it up. He might be a decent fighter, he did get beat by the eventual winner of the show, but I think Riley can take him out.
Gene Rayburn should do the commentary for this one, “Winner by BLANK” I’m sure Richard Dawson would have the perfect answer for this one. Nelson-Riley, indeed. What a MATCH! He’s got GAME!

I hope and pray Liddell fights on this card agaisnt a good opponet. I already bought my near $400 ticket expecting Chuck to fight. The rest of the card looks weak besides Gonzoga v Carwin.
