Matt Grice To Return Against George Sotiropoulos at UFC Fight Night 17
Lightweight Matt Grice will return to the octagon on Feburary 7th against George Sotiropoulos at UFC Fight Night 17 in Tampa, Florida, according to MMA Weekly.
Grice, who took time off from fighting to graduate from the police academy, announced in November his intention to return to the octagon in early-2009. Plans for a tune-up bout outside of the UFC have apparently been scrapped as Grice and Sotiropoulos will both end extended layoffs with a 155-pound matchup on the evening’s preliminary card.
A four-time high school wrestling champion in Oklahoma and collegiate wrestler at the University of Oklahoma, Grice (9-1) was defeated by Terry Etim in his UFC debut via first-roud guillotine choke but rebounded to top Jason Black via split decision in the “Fight of the Night” at and even his UFC record at 1-1.
Sotiropoulos (9-2) is undefeated inside the octagon with a 2-0 record, earning victories over Billy Miles and Roman Mitichyan. He has not competed since April 2008 after an injury forced him to withdraw from a scheduled bout against Karo Parisyan at UFC 87 in August.

Should be a good fight.
I thought George was good at 170. He could be a much quicker 155er. Not like he’s losing much in the area of stand up. Probably a good move. He never looked cut at 170, also.
ya george at 155 will b tough comp! grice is gettin tko rd1 & ya your right he didnt look cut ww, i think georges striking is pretty darn good same wit his jitz what do u think fr 702?? also do u do any trainin yourself??
I think its going to be a hell of a fight, I also think it will go into the 3 round and will end tko but I see it as a wonderful battle.. The winner will mostlikey be george but I wouldn’t be suprised if matt won, I have trained in different martial arts and I started BJJ around 17, Muay Thai, Aikido, and a few others but is started my first training at about the age of 13… I actively train when my schedule allows, or I just hit the bag when I get an oppritunity
takin off 4abit look 4your reply later fr 702, cheers
Definitely agree. Sotiropoulus is pretty good, even though I didn’t like him on TUF.
Just read that Anthony Johnson will be slated to face Fiorivanti on this card. I wanted to see him against Swick but this would still be a good fight.
Pretty much another clay guida is what your saying right.
(even though clay is rising right now but you get my point)
